Is it necessary to compile the gmshFoam package
(http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_gmshFoam) with gmsh 2.0.8 or can I use the latest version of gmsh (currently 2.2.4)?

Hi Sebastian,
For a complete build of the gmshFoam package you need Gmsh 2.0.8 and OF <= 1.4.1. If you don't need the OpenFOAM-integrated version of Gmsh (and you only need the converters) you don't need the Gmsh 2.0.8 source. I'm afraid currently the package doesn't compile with OF 1.5. Hopefully I'll be able to look into the compilation issue this weekend. Takuya |

Hi Fabian,
I did a quick work for OF 1.5, but still haven't tested so much. Please try svn co https://of-interfaces.svn.sourceforg...trunk/gmshFoam and let me know if this works. Thanks, Takuya |

Hi takuya,
I've tried to mesh with gmsh 2.2.5 and convert inOF-1.5 with gmsh2ToFoam, with the svn version of the utility. I have strange results: the mesh is good in gmsh, but when I convert it, checkMesh finds high skewed faces, and highly non ortogonal cells. When I inspect the mesh in Paraview, well I find cells that do not exist in my original mesh. I've done something wrong? I would like to post my .geo and polyMesh stuff, but I don't know how... Thanks, Ivan |

Hi Ivan,
I believe you meant Point(9) = {-1, 0, -0.001, 0.1}; Point(10) = {0, 1, -0.001, 0.1}; Point(11) = {1, 0, -0.001, 0.1}; by Point(9) = {-1, 0, 0, 0.1}; Point(10) = {0, 1, 0, 0.1}; Point(11) = {1, 0, 0, 0.1}; . Right? Takuya |

I'm happy to thank you for this nice utility, and for this case I can confirm that it works well with both OF 1.5 and GMSH 2.2.5! |

Hi
I have just succeeded in compiling and applying the new gmsh2ToFoam on a problem in OF1.5. Every step worked smoothly. Thanks for a really nice tool, Niels
