Might be a silly question but I am quite confused. After creating my blockMesh file, I have also configured and ran my snappyHexMesh. when I go to visualize this in paraFoam, I only see the original blockMesh cuboid until I change to the final time interval at which point the refined mesh appears. Is this correct? am i only supposed to be able to see the reformed mesh at the last interval?

Hello,

Yes, this is the default behavior of snappyHexMesh:

Quote:
By default, each of snappyHexMesh’s phases, i.e castellation, snapping and layer addition will write a complete mesh in time folders. This behaviour can be suppressed by using the option

snappyHexMesh `-overwrite`

Thanks for the help. Just out of curiosity, when I run my solver (rhoPimpleFoam), will the refined mesh be there from the first time interval?

also,
if my solver doesn't converge, should I still be able to visualize the results in paraview or is this only possible when it converges.

No it won't. You will have to manually move the final mesh into the constant directory. Or just use the -overwrite option when running snappy.

You will be able to visualize data written to disk, if there is any. This is defined in the controlDict file.
Have a look to "Time and data input/output control" in the user guide.
