Dear Foamers,
I wish to create a structured and unstructured hybrid mesh using non-commercial tools. Can I combine unstructured SHM mesh with a structured mesh from Salome or blockMesh? (I intend to use it in CHT simulations.) It seemed to me that problems like CHT in an oven or pipes inside a cavity, can benefit from such a mesh, instead of SHM multi-region mesh. Structured mesh in the oven walls or pipes/pipe_walls and unstructured SHM mesh in the remaining fluid domain. I know you can create hybrid mesh in Salome, but I suspect Salome’s unstructured mesh generation capabilities may not be good enough for complex geometries. Therefore, I’m asking if it is possible to combine SHM with other structured mesh generators. I’d also like to hear about your strategy for meshing CHT problems with complex geometry. |
