Hi everyone,
Let me ask the question first: What quality criterion/criteria (and threshold value) do you use in Fluent Meshing and/or ANSA to ensure good quality mesh in OpenFoam (eg. pass checkMesh)? I have some experience with OpenFoam but am getting deeper into it, having mostly worked with commercial codes. Typically, I generate my meshes in Fluent Meshing. Now, I have a geometry that is showing a few nonOrthogonal faces and a few skewFaces that might be blowing up my simulation in OF. The usual workflow in Fluent Meshing that has served me well in Fluent is not working as the quality criteria that identifies problematic surface+volume cells do not correspond to the ones flagged in OF checkMesh (or so I think). Currently, I am exploring Fluent TUI polymesh smoothing but it takes a long time and it is also not clear what threshold value I should be shooting for. I also have access to ANSA but have not used that for CFD mesh just yet. Hopefully, you can share what worked for you or point me in the right direction. |
