[snappyHexMesh] is it possible to generate a surface mesh with elements with 3 or 4 vertices?

Default is it possible to generate a surface mesh with elements with 3 or 4 vertices?

Is it possible to generate a surface mesh with only quadrangular and triangular elements in snappyHexMesh?
To couple with Precice the surface elements need to meet certain criteria.
