Hello Everyone,

I need to simulate conjugate heat transfer with two solid regions (asbestos and iron) and two liquid regions (air and water). I am planning to chtMultiRegionFoam.

The shape of the total domain is a 3D cube, with the asbestos layer sandwiched between air and water (stacked one above other). Then, a solid cylinder made of iron runs vertically across air, asbestos and liquid layers (along the vertical axis of the domain).

I was able to obtain the mesh by using blockMesh, topoSet and splitMeshRegions. But, the edges of the cylinder obtained by topoSet is not a perfect circle. Is there any way to make it a perfect circle ?

In order to overcome this, I tried to used snappyHexMesh. I first created the total domain using blockMesh. Then created the horizontal layers of air, asbestos and water using toposet. Then used snappyhexmeshDict to insert the cylinder and then ran SplitMeshRegions.

But, I do not get 4 regions as I intended. I just see only one cylinder region with no properly defined interfaces.

Need of urgent help. Kindly please give me some directions on how to tackle this geometry.

I do not want to use other meshing applications.

Thank You.

have you solved this problem or not?
I guess in refinementregions if you define all your regions and then use splitmeshregion command you can see 4 regions.
If you have solved this problem I would be happy to know about the details of your work cuz I am doing something similar
