Full or half geometry to use?

Hey.
I am simulating the ship flow. I am doing it using DTCHull Moving as a reference. I created almost all the changes required for my case setup. When I came to DynamicMeshDict there was an entry for mass moment of inertia about the center of mass of the object. In the DTCHull case setup they are using the whole geometry for the meshing purpose even though they are simulating the flow for half of the geometry. I tried to find if the moment of inertia is given for half or full geometry using solidwork and finding the moment of inertia but I could not find it because the values did not match I am also simulating the flow for half of the geometry. My doubts are 1. Is it okay to use full geometry to create the mesh for the half simulation case 2. if I use full geometry does that mean I have to use moment of inertia for full geometry This might be stupic question but I am in a confused loop I thought since the simulation is going to determine the resistance on the hull batch specified in the mesh I should use the moment of inertia for half geometry in the beginning. But after seeing that the DTCHull used full geometry I am kinda confused Please help me Thanks in advance |
