cfMesh cell size behaviour

Hello everyone!
I'm currently writing my master's thesis about the hydraulic effect of basic deadwood structures in small rivers. I'm using OpenFOAM 1906 on a remote machine at the university so i can't say much about the installation process. During the meshing, I discovered some strange behaviour regarding the cell size. The maximum cell size is set at 0.0199 m, wich works fine for the free stream areas. But as soon as I want to refine the mesh on the cylinders that represent the deadwood with a cell size of 0.0049 m, they are becoming much smaller, and are about 0.0015 m in size. But when setting the cellsize to 0.0050 m, the result is as expected. We are using these odd numbers (0.0049 ; 0.0199) because the supervisor said, this could prevent numerical issues, especially during setFields. Does anyone know why cfMesh is behaving in this way? By the way, thanks a lot for all the help I already got here by only reading! Edit: Sorry, I just realized I posted this in the wrong subforum and can't delete this thread. Could anyone move this thread to the correct category? Thanks... |
