How to create planar electrodes on substrate surface?

Hello,
I am new to OpenFOAM and am doing a project that requires me to build a 2D repeating unit of a microchannel with solid channel walls on the top and bottom of the channel, coupled for heat transfer with the compressible::turbulentTemperatureCoupledBaffleMix ed boundary condition. I need to create planar electrodes with an applied voltage potential on the top and bottom of the substrate that are either flush with the channel walls (preferred) or slightly raised above the channel walls and contained in the fluid region. I used createBaffles to make the electrodes slightly raised above the channel walls, but it makes me choose a boundary condition for the temperature on the baffles. Is there a way to make the temperature on the baffles equal the temperature of the surrounding mesh cells of the fluid? Or is there another way to make this geometry (depicted in the first attachment)? I have also tried splitting the fluid into multiple regions in blockMesh (depicted in the second attachment), but I can't seem to merge the fluid with the solid for the heat transfer (using mergePatchPairs in the blockMesh) while also keeping the electrode regions intact. Any information/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Screen Shot 2020-06-16 at 1.43.56 PM.png Screen Shot 2020-06-16 at 2.36.33 PM.jpg Last edited by stirling1; June 18, 2020 at 21:04. |
