Hello!

I'm trying to run a Tall Building unsteady RANS and I'm having some difficulties with the mesh.

  1. Is there any way to define 2 different boundary layers in SHM? I would like to define one indipendent BL on the building and one on the ground with different layers, 1st cell height, thickness, ecc... I've tried multiple times but it only allows me to define different number of layers.
  2. I'm using the ABL inlet condition and I was wondering if it is correct to put the boundary layer also on the ground. I saw that in the turbine siting tutorial there's no BL on the ground.
  3. Since ahead of the building there is a strong separation of the BL from the ground, I should solve the BL without the wallFunctions, am I correct?
Thank you for you time.

I guess for BL, you can build it one by one?
Off my head, you will have two shmDict, say shmdict_1 and shmdict_2, each is setup according your needs..
Then generate the building first with shmdict_1 then run shm again using shmdict_2 to generate the ground layer?

Thank you for your suggestion, I didn’t know I could use different shm dict!
