I am meshing a sector of a cylinder using snappyHexMesh and have a problem with mesh quality near the surface. The full model is attached as well as a close-up of a section in an area where I am having a problem. I am getting "hot spots" of velocity and nut (using twoPhaseEulerFoam) in areas where there is a large jump in mesh size. These areas appear in other places on the model, all of which are near the top surface. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

- could you please attach the log file of `checkMesh -allGeometry -allTopology`?

Sure, here it is. Looks like there are some problems.

- don't mind `concave` related stats. but `tet`-related stats is worrying.
- during your mesh generation via SHM, alter mesh quality settings for `tet`, and redo the meshing
- reduce the refinement nearby edges. if you would like resolve the edges, consider to use SHM's `feature edge` functionalities, which will help to snap onto the given edges in a better way

Thanks. I was using the default meshQualityDict.cfg and it had minTetQuality set to -1E30. I changed it to 1E-15 and it got rid of the bad tet messages, but the problem of hot spots and quick mesh changes is still there. I've attached a new logfile from checkMesh.
