I'm had some issues when meshing with snappyhexmesh so I've decided to try Salome.
I was hoping for some advice though.. After importing a STEP file and creating my groups I run into a problem trying to create a 3D mesh. If you look at the attached picture you'll see that Salome doesn't give me the option to create a 3D mesh. Is this because my geometry isn't air tight? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

It is some time ago that I have used 3D meshes with salome so I might be wrong with my assumption. I believe salome only recognizes the shell of your geometry, and hence, offers only surface meshes. To create a 3D mesh, you would need a volume of the inside.
