Dear All,
I am an absolute beginner in OpenFOAM. I installed OpenFoam-1906 on opensuse 15.2 Linux version operating system. At first glance, I realized that "tutorials" folder is not in OpenFOAM-1906 package. Therefore, I downloaded the toturials folder from "https://openfoam.org/git-hub/". Afterwards, I figured out that "polyMesh" folder is missing from "constant" folder while simulating elbow tutorial. I continued working but I face "command not found" error when typing "fluentMeshToFoam elbow.msh" command. I would be so pleased if I got a solution for this problem. Thank you |

Hey Nawaf,
strange... -)Normally you should have the tutorial inside openFOAM installation. -)It is normal that you don't have the polyMesh in the constant folder. -)I tried to convert with fluentMeshToFoam elbow.msh and this is working. Some questions: can you try to run fluentMeshToFoam -help ? Is fluentMeshToFoam correctly installed? Are you in the correct folder? You should be in elbow main folder. I converted for you: https://github.com/Carlopasquinucci/ShareOpenFOAMFile please, add a reputation. Thanks |

I, too, am not able to run blockMesh in the elbow tutorial. I cannot see the polyMesh folder also in that. But in the cavity tutorial, I have the polyMesh folder, and I can run the blockMesh. I am pretty confused due to that right now.

Hey,
1)I suggest you to reinstall openfoam. The tutorials should be inside openfooam. This since you had some problems in the installations. 2) the polimesh missing is not a problem 3) the command I think should be now fluent3dMeshToFoam: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Fluent3DMeshToFoam |

Thanks a lot for your quick reply Carlos. I had my tutorial folder within the Of folder. But I was trying to run the elbow tutorial using the blockMesh command. Then I watched József Nagy's tutorial and used the FLuentMeshtoFOAM and the Polymesh file was created automatically. I was able to run the case.

Hi, I recently installed Openfaom version 2312 on my windows by creating a virtual linux OS. I am a beginner in it.
However, while I was trying to run an elbow tutorial via incompressible icoFoam solver, i tried to use a fluentMeshToFoam command to convert an imported elbow_tri.msh file to a foam format, the command failed and my suspicion is because of the lack of a polyMesh folder under the constants folder in the elbow tutorial. I even checked wether fluentMeshToFoam was installed properly, which it appears it was. On top of that on checking the cavity and cavity mapping test folder, polyMesh was not there in those folders too. Can someone please guide me as to what I must do? If I should install the polyMesh folder, where can I do so |
