snappyHexMesh not snapping to cylinder end

Hi all,
I have been using snappyHexMesh for a while now, and I am trying to compute the flow around a 3D finite length cylinder. snappyHexMesh appears to be working great, except the snapping is not perfect on the end of the cylinder at the edge as you can see in the attached picture. I've increased the scale of the image to exaggerate this problem, but I am calculating very sensitive torques and forces on the cylinder, and this is introducing errors I would like to eliminate. I've tried playing with the different snapping parameters and I haven't been able to change this. I used surfaceFeatureExtract to extract the edges from an simple stl file of a cylinder, and I also tried with a surface mesh I generated from a cylinder I created with blockMesh, and I see the same effect in either case. I would greatly appreciate any help! Best regards |
