I am working on 2D rectangular prisms and right now I am back again at creating a suitable mesh. I tried different approaches using cfMesh, ICEM, blockMesh and snappyHexMesh and also looked into other free meshers but was not able to find what I need.
On the right side, you can see the mesh that I created in blockMesh. This mesh gives me some problems at the diagonal connection between the upper and left part of the O-grid creating high unphysical pressure gradients. On the left, you can see how I would like my mesh to look to hopefully remove the problems with the pressure equation. Any Ideas how I can make the transition between the different parts of the O-grid smoother? If possible I would prefer a free software. |

Hi,
Use Salome and make you geometry like this and then mesh with Hex.

Or even better to avoid 1 skewed cell.

Additionally you might find the tool from this thread interesting:
MegaCADs I haven't been able to test it myself, but It's definitely on my list. Also it was developed quiet close to your location. |

Gmsh is a good option for relatively simple geometries. My favorite feature is that you can entirely script the geometry and meshing, allowing you to parameterize everything and quickly change the geometry and mesh.
