Hi guys,

I got some questions about the mesh/grid Independence study with snappyHexMesh (sHM):

- How do you archive a mesh independence solution with sHM?
- Only adjust the cell size of the backgroundMesh?
- Playing around with the levels inside the sHMDict?
- Working with refinement boxes etc.?
- A mix of these three ways?
- Or is there another way?
Thank you for your answers.

Dear Foamers,

Many years later, I hope to revive this thread.

Has anyone had any success in creating a generalized workflow for conducting grid independence studies using snappyHexMesh?

Some general tips, like increasing the 3D background mesh by a factor of 1.5 instead of 2 ( 2^{3} >> 1.5^{3} ) and using the representative cell length as opposed to the number of cells in the domain, etc... would be appreciated as well.

How many of you generally use the Richardson extrapolation in the process as well?
