Hi All,

I'm trying to mesh an example underwater vehicle hull with a duct using Gmsh. To do this, I created geometries in CAD (Autodesk Inventor 2016) and exported them to iges format. When I include filleted supports of the accelerating duct, the aft part of the hull does not mesh and Gmsh yield a warning:
Code:
Warning : Surface 22 consists of no elements
When I exclude the supports, everything works fine (see pictures below). I've attached the geometry and .geo files for both examples here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/odsz78fsnm...ample.zip?dl=0
hoping someone can help me figure out what the problem is.

Note: I know in the renderings the Gmsh grids are super coarse but I tried much finer ones and nothing changes so I included the coarse ones to illustrate the point better.

Note: I am certain the geometry itself is OK as when I attempt to mesh it with Pointwise everything works fine.

Many thanks,

Artur

Hi All,

I found a solution by splitting the problematic surface twice to avoid any splines being used as an edge twice, see pictures below. This does not explain why Gmsh did not have a problem with this for the first geometry, but at least it's a valid workaround.

All the best,

Artur
