Hi,
is there a way to regroup filenames when writing surfaceFeatureExtractDict ? I usually write something like this: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nielsen1979All.stl { #include "surfaceFeatureExtractDictDefaults" } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but I now have 20 surfaces. I could take the time to write 20 times the same lines but I wondered whether there was a more efficient way. With sHMDict I usually write something like: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "(walls|hotSurface)" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However this does not work in surfaceFeatureExtractDict: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "(walls.stl|hotSurface.stl)" { #include "surfaceFeatureExtractDictDefaults" } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope my question is sufficiently clear. Thank you in advance, Fred |

Thank you for your reply Peterhess. I did watch this tutorial, however Calum Douglas does not regroup names. He uses the same method I use (see time 22:35 of the video).
When I think about it, it's not the end of the world. It only takes a few minutes to copy/paste for each stl file. Fred |

I am not sure, if I understand the problem right...
you need to use: splitMeshRegions -cellZones -overwrite after snappyHexMesh if I understood you right! Share your case please! Regards Peter |

Hi,
Maybe I am missing something, but wouldn't the number of files essentially be controlled by the includedAngle that you specify? In my view, the reason one uses surfaceFeatureExtract is because one wants to get separate files. Hence an option in sFE to combine files would seem redundant. Especially since you can reduce the number of features extracted (and hence the number of files) by reducing the feature angle. Just my two cents worth. Cheers, Antimony |

Hope the solution is useful for new foamers:
this works in surfaceFeatureExtractDict: "walls.stl|walls02.stl|walls03.stl|hotSurface.stl" , just without the brackets for many stl files. |
