3D laminar flow in a pipe with a solid object inside

Good afternoon,
I created a 3D pipe with blockMesh and inside of it I have a smaller pipe with should be a solid part (defined as wall-BC). Now, when I run simpleFoam, the smaller pipe is not included in the calculation. So the laminar flow is going through the smaller pipe and the velocity-field does not change. I tried to split the mesh regions in solid and fluid, but it didn't help. Is there somebody who can explain me where my problem is? Thank you in advance! |

Hi,
please read http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-get-help.html and provide a minimal example (sketch and blockMeshDict) that allows to reproduce the problem in order to maximize your chances to get useful help. I'm not quite sure I completely understood your problem, but I think you should create a mesh like this: http://s11.postimg.org/qtp8n1gur/Untitled.png. There's no need to mesh and model the inner pipe (solid) - only the fluid domain is considered in your type of simulation (no need to compute cells where no change happens). You're correct, the interface between the fluid mesh and the inner (and also outer) solids is modeled by a wall boundary condition. Cutter |
