Hi all,
This is my problem: I wanted to solve for the steady laminar solution past a circular cylinder at Re=100, thus higher than the bifurcation point where instability occurs. I started by creating only the upper "half" mesh, with a symmetry plane passing through the cylinder with a free-slip boundary condition. This procedure kills the instability and I can obtain the steady solution on this reduced domain with icoFoam, solving the transient problem. However, I now want to have the steady solution on the complete domain, on a full grid, and start a new simulation from there to observe the growth of the instability. I started by using rotateMesh and transformPoints to generate the solution also on the lower half. I then used mergeMesh to merge the upper and lower parts, but it appears that the fields are not merged. Is there any other possible solution to my problem? Regards, Davide |

Hello
I have exactly the same problem and am also trying to do that, nothing has worked yet, i had to recompute the steady solution on the whole domain which is quite stupid. Has anyone any idea ? Thx Vcattoir |
