Hello,
I've had trouble meshing some of my components. I'm trying to model the flow around and through a micro gas turbine engine combustion chamber using blockMesh and snappyHexMesh. The domain consists of the whole test rig, so starting with a diffuser leading to the combustion chamber, then an outlet section and after that a large section that models the atmosphere. When I confine my domain to only the casing and combustion chamber with the outlet section, snappyHexMesh deals with the detail perfectly and all liner holes are present in the mesh. When I increase the blockMesh to include the other sections (e.g. Atmosphere and diffuser), for some reason (without changing any settings in the snappyHexMeshDict file) the smaller holes in my liner are not present in the final mesh. I've decided to Mesh individual section separately and and "stitch" them together at a later stage using stitchMesh. So far, however I have not found any examples of how to use stitchMesh and it leaves me with many questions. Here are my questions: 1). Should I rather continue to mesh the whole domain with blockMesh and change some of the settings in the snappyHexMeshDict file to capture the finer detail (I have tried this with no good results), and if so which settings? 2). If I use stitchMesh, and I have seperately Meshed snappyHexMesh Meshes how do I accomplish this (should both case files be in the same directory? Where do I put the seperate polyMesh files? What commands should I use)? Sorry for the long question and thanks in advance for any replies. |

Hi everyone,
I realized that I had specified too little local and global cells in snappyHexMesh Dict file. Once I increased the number of cells, snappy modelled my finer details perfectly. I did not use stitchMesh at all. Thanks. |
