mirrorMesh utility preserving regions

Hi foamers,
Some time ago I was working in a case where I used a quarter of a cylinder as a base geometry because of symmetry. My geometry was made up of some regions defined via blockMeshDict (naming the diferent blocks) and splitted afterwards using splitMeshRegions utility. Now I want to re-use that geometry but I need the whole cylinder instead of only the original quarter cylinder. To do that I thought about using the utility mirrorMesh but it has some limitations to suit my needs. It mirrors the mesh perfectly, of course, but it doesn't respect my region specification. I mean, the original regions specified in the blokMeshDict file keep being part of the original quarter of cylinder, but they are not extended to the whole cylinder after mirroring the quarter. Thus, in the end I have my original regions (defined within the first quarter of the cylider) plus one more region containing the rest of the cylinder generated by the utility. Is there any utility (or option within the mirrorMesh utility) to mirror my original geometry taking into account the region specification? Thanks in advance. Alex

Hi Alex, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, of course related to another geometry. Did you find a solution so far?
I hoped also mirrorMesh had the '-region' option so that I could be able to mirror each region mesh one by one after processing the global mesh with splitMeshRegion but it has not this option. Thank You Gianluca |
