I've created a 2d mesh on an airfoil in Star CCM+ and then converted it by ccm26ToFoam to OpenFOAM.
It worked and the residuals were not so bad. For having the orthogonal mesh around airfoil, i added some prism layer in star ccm around airfoil but when i converted it to OpenFOAM i couldn't run the simulation even for 1 iteration. With checkMesh,i've got some errors for example many nonClosed surfaces on the surface of the airfoil. Checking mesh in StarCCM did not give me these errors. Does anybody know what the problem is? You can see the errors after first iteration here: --------------------------------------- Create mesh for time = 0 Reading field p Reading field U Reading/calculating face flux field phi #0 Foam::error:: printStack(Foam::Ostream&) in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib/libOpenFOAM.so" #1 Foam::sigFpe::sigHandler(int) in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib/libOpenFOAM.so" #2 in "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6" #3 Foam::surfaceInterpolation::makeWeights() const in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib/libfiniteVolume.so" #4 Foam::surfaceInterpolation::weights() const in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib/libfiniteVolume.so" #5 in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin/simpleFoam" #6 __libc_start_main in "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6" #7 in "/opt/openfoam211/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin/simpleFoam" Floating point exception (core dumped) ---------------------------- Thanks in advance. |

Dear omid
OpenFOAM is a 3D solver, as you create a mesh in 2D and import it in OpenFOAM, it will convert your 2D mesh into a 3D one, by increment of thickness , However it would be great if you put your checkMesh report here not result of run

Hi,
I have exatly the same error. I use a hexa mesh (3D airfoil) built in ICEM and converted with fluent3dmeshtofoam. The Simulation ran (k-w SST without wallfunctions) before i changend the yplus value to 1. OF checkmesh was OK except the high aspect ratio. Any ideas? And what is about surface interpolation?
