openFOAM installation in ubuntu 11.10

hi in previous version of ubuntu i had i.e 10.04 i could able to install openfoam easily
but in ubuntu 11.10 i first tried to install thro ubuntu deb pack installation wen i put wget like to fetch the software i fails it show like the link doesnt exist. so i again tried with source pack installation. 1. i have use ubuntu 11.10 64 bit platform 2. i install all the prerequestive files 3. i download the source pack file given in that website 4. i extracted tar file into my root directory /opt/OpenFOAM 5. then in home directory i /.bashrc file i pasted the following line at last # source /opt/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.1.0/etc/bashrc 6. i save the file and close it 7. when i type foamSystemCheck i get as "command not found" can u help me to sought out this problem . |

For the deb package for Ubuntu, start reading here: http://www.openfoam.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=410#c1013 As for the source package, do not install OpenFOAM directly on "/opt" until you have enough experience. Simply follow the instructions provided in the page for the source package and install OpenFOAM on your user area at "$HOME/OpenFOAM". Best regards, Bruno

dear wyldckat kirubha@kirubha-AcerPower-Series:~$ sudo apt-get install openfoam210 --fix-missingi tried your steps you given but i again fail i sent the terminal box message initially i got. Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done openfoam210 is already the newest version. The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required: libjpeg62-dev Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded. with regards kirubhakaran |

Hi,
can you post your ~.bashrc (only the lines that are responsible for OpenFoam) do the OpenFoam shortcuts work properly? Try foam tut sol I guess that you did not configure your .bashrc. |
