kkhodier is on a distinguished road
Dear community,

since this is my first post, I would like to introduce myself first:
my name is Karim Khodier, and I am currently finalizing my PhD at the Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria. My field of research is modeling the mechanical processing of mixed waste. After a few years of empirical modeling, I would like to start physically modeling the treatment processes in the next few years, and hence get involved in numerical modeling, including CFD.

Now on the topic:
I am currently trying to install OpenFOAM as part of a CFDEM installation for CFD/DEM coupling with LIGGGHTS. Following the instructions on https://www.engineerdo.com/wp-conten...tion_CFDEM.pdf I am trying to first install OpenFOAM 5.x on a clean installation of Ubuntu 20.04 in a virtual machine using virtual box.

Apparantly, when trying to compile OpenFOAM, the compiler gets stuck in some kind of loops, since the terminal keeps printing the same/similar set of lines for hours. Unfortunately I do not have any experience with compiling software and hence I do not really know how to interpret what is happening.
I am attaching part of the log file, until the first few repetitions (since the file was initially too large - i also converted it to txt for being able to upload it)

I would really appreciate your support.
Thank you in advance,
Karim

The LIGGHTS software initially started as combine public and paid versions. Haven't seen any public code updates for four or five years now - I think you would do well to look elsewhere since if you have any problems with it, you will be fairly stuck.
