Hello,
I have foam-extend 4.1 and openfoam v1906 installed on Ubuntu1804 (Windows subsystem). I'm also using aliases to switch between both environments. the ESI version works without any problem, but when I try to use anything in foam-extend, for example "blockMesh -help", I get the following error: Code:
--> FOAM FATAL ERROR: Could not find mandatory etc entry (mode=ugo) 'controlDict' I saw in a previous post by Wyldckat that this might happen when OF is installed in a directory containing spaces, but it is not the case. the command which foamExec gives: Code:
/opt/foam/foam-extend-4.1/bin/foamExec Thanks in advance for your help, Kazu |

I have same kind of problem. You foam-extend doesn't look that it was installed fully.
How was your installation process like? In my system, the installation wouldn't budge. |

It may be because the extend version didn't run from source.
you can make another version into comment like below $vi ~/.bashrc (at almost last line) # source /opt/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-v1912/etc/bashrc and then $fe40 then run the case by extend version. And, I want to ask you, did you install 4.1 without any problem? Because I am trying to install extend 4.1 in ubuntu 18.04 LTS (WSL) but still having trouble. |

I installed version 4.1 without any obvious error or warning. Did you try doin an apt-get -update Before installing? The problem is the environment. I will try again with 4.0... |

I'm using the extend-4.1 version now, too. My installation error was resolved after installing the WSL2. And it does not look that every solver works, but I have been figuring out. |
