What was the first error that led you to the re-installation? The second error might be related that the reinstallation is corrupted due to the lack of fresh start of installation (you might need to delete everything before the re-installation).

hi!
thanks for answering me,
what I have done for the moment was to follow the instructions of installation from openfoam.com (https://www.openfoam.com/download/in...windows-10.php)
some other details:
when doing the instructions everything went okay (installed everything correctly and also run the case cavity)
after doing it, I tried to run paraFoam without success and after some reading I installed Xming and then paraFoam worked.

as I am learning, I found a tutorial where they used surfaceAutoPatch and as I want to use external STLs I thought it would be a great opportunity, I tried to use it and it told me that I didn't had it installed and then offered me to install it.
I installed (no error show up) and then when I tried again it showed that error.
also, another thing I found myself was that when I tried to use parametric blockMesh with internal calculations (with #calc) it also gives me an error (if I take out all the #calc blockMesh works perfectly...)
for the second error, I am pasting it at the end.

what I am really questioning my self (as I am not someone that has worked with Linux or that have done a lot of programming...) if it is a good idea to keep with the WLS to use OF or if i should install a virtual machine with Linux directly to not have any errors (another example is that I paste a folder in the explorer of windows in the same folder that the cavity example was created, from the installation, and I didn't have rights to read/write/execute the newly copied folder from the Ubuntu terminal)

the ubuntu that I installed was the one from the window store 18.04 LTS

thanks for the help, I am really new with OpenFOAM, and it is not easy to follow everything when at the same time you don't know a lot about computers...

No worries.

I don't know how to even shut down a Windows computer, I'm afraid, so can't suggest anything about this.

Is there any chance for you to attach the error log file, so that I can chase it up for you in the medium term?

LOL, well I guess that we are at the same place but in other sides of the "window"... As I don't even know how to recover an error file 😅 I only copy paste from the command line... 😅

Best regards
