Hi,

we would like to install OpenFoam 1.6-ext but since two days it is not possible to reach the repository. Does anybody know the reason? Is there another way to download OF Extend?

Best regards!
Za-ck

Greetings Za-ck and welcome to the forum!

To quote the current message at openfoamwiki.net:
Quote:
Currently links to the SVN and GIT repositories of openfoam-extend on Sourceforge are not working because these were taken offline. The reason for that is that ANSYS claims three classes (none of them really essential) of the 1.6-ext are under their copyright. The matter is being worked on. All other services at openfoam-extend are still functional.
Best regards,
Bruno

Hi all!

Do exist any mirror sources apart from sourceforge or any other means to download openfoam-1.6 extend ? I need a source-code version to be built then.

Thanx in advance!
Oleg

Greetings Oleg and welcome to the forum!

Here is one: https://github.com/ogoe/OpenFOAM-1.6-ext
But it's not complete... it only has the main branch.

edit on 2013-03-08: found another mirror, this one seems to be complete: http://repo.or.cz/w/OpenFOAM-1.6-ext.git

Best regards,
Bruno

Thanks, Bruno, for a quick reply!

The fact that it is not complete scares me a little
Is that worth the effort to install and compile or it is better to wait for the sourceforge version?
Are there any differences in the installation process? Can I use this guide http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...1.6-ext/Ubuntu to install github version?

Best regards,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,

The differences are only:
  1. That git mirror version does not have all of the branches that the one at sf.net had. But the master branch is present as "sf/master", which is the default upon clone.
  2. You can also use the following instructions, depending on the Ubuntu version you've got: https://github.com/ogoe/OpenFOAM-1.6...uctions/Ubuntu
Best regards,
Bruno

Thanks Bruno.

Only one of 1.6 -ext that I found was in the .iso to some conference in 2010.
The version you updated will will certainly be more useful

The version that I have found is uploaded here
http://uloz.to/xoug8gG/openfoam-1-6-ext-zip

[sorry for the server, but I am from czech rep. and I don't know, where to post it for your convenience ]

I don't know. But I vaguely remember seeing sometime ago a service that searches on-line code for code that looks like your own in-house code.

For those curious about why the Extend variants have been off-line: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post405401 post #4

edit: I've stick'ified this thread until the problem is solved.

Try asking for a mirror link for that branch here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-extend-3.html

About the "solidMechanics" branch:

As the git repository is currently down, I have put ".tgz" of the solidMechanics solvers here.
I usually put the solidMechanics directory in the $FOAM_SOLVERS directory.

Best,
Philip

Hi Ehsan,

You've got a link at post #7 and in the Github page (from post #4) you've got a button that says "ZIP", which gives this download link: https://github.com/ogoe/OpenFOAM-1.6.../sf/master.zip

Best regards,
Bruno
