Dear Niels
Hi, I ran wave flume tutorial and then in that case I changed wave period from 1.5s to 0.64s and changed wave height to 0.002m. In result wave damped totally in about 5 meters after wave maker! Considering that relaxation zone parameters have not been changed. In another case I lengthen the flume to 54m and again wave existed only about 18m and after that totally damped. Also in all cases the U(0) is decreasing continuously in flume length. Would you please help me and give me some introduction about defining relaxation zone parameters more than openfoamwiki contents. Thank you in advance, sorry for my poor english Last edited by mmbeik; August 10, 2015 at 09:09. |

Hallo Mmbeik,
You should clearly think of the number of cells per wave length. The original waveFlume tutorial has a wave period of 2 s, whereas you are using 0.64 s. Applying the dispersion relation you find a decrease of the wave length by a factor of ~6 (!) without a corresponding increase in the mesh resolution. This must lead to very rapid dissipation of the wave. Kind regards, Niels

Thank you for responding,Actually I increased mesh resolution as you said, but the result did not changed and the wave damped totally after a while. Regards, Moh |

Good morning Moh,
I do not know, whether you expected a response based on your latest post, but there is not anything to work with. If you would like to have the attention of the community, please adhere to the guidelines given in this post: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-get-help.html Kind regards, Niels
