HI all,

We have uploaded the latest version of IHFOAM-GUI with new functionalities:
- statict and dynamic wave generation.
- fully compatible with versions v1812 and v1906.
- improvement in the domain visor.

As usual, it can be downloaded from:
(https://ihfoam.ihcantabria.com/model/gui/):

We will be very happy to hear from the users any feedback, pros and cons, in order to improve the capabilities of the graphical interface.

Regards,
IHFOAM Team

Hi!

First, congratulations on the new GUI, it is very good.
However, I noticed that the GUI crashes every time I save a panel that modifies a dictionary that does not exist on the case folder yet. I solve this by manually copying a dictionary file from another case, but it would be great if the GUI automatically created dictionaries when you save a panel that writes on that non-existing dictionary.

Thanks!

Tomás

The IHFOAM looks great
But my problem is, when I click on the blockmesh, this prompt pops up,"Error: did not locate installation path for OpenFOAM-v1906 No directory: /home/cyf/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-v1906
/bin/sh: 1: blockMesh: not found"
I use the Ubuntu subsystem of Windows10, version 18.04.I'm using pre-compiled Openfoam v1906.I've entered the correct path. What should I do?

Thanks!

According to the dialog box, OpenFOAM must be installed in the user folder.

It is very difficult to solve this issue with just this info, but please, can you check if what you have diownloaded has the right permissiones to be executed?

Try: sudo chmod +x InstallerIHFoam

Yes, IHFOAM GUI it is "just" a graphical user interface, a front-end, that will use all the potential of OpenFOAM once it is installed.

Therefore, you must download and compile IHFOAM in order to use IHFOAM GUI.

Great!! Thank you very much for the feedback, our idea is to solve all the issues to achieve a complete robust tool.

Please, can you give us more information about which dictionary was not working proiperly?

I am pretty new to OpenFOAM and Ubuntu so the question may seem trivial but I don´t understand what you mean.

I am currently working on a Ubuntu VirtualBox, and I installed the IHFOAM GUI and OpenFOAM with paraview as it is explained in this link:

https://openfoam.org/download/7-ubuntu/

but when I try to use the blockMesh button inside the GUI this error appears:

/bin/sh: 136: .: Can't open /openfoam7/etc/config.sh/functions

Is the error associated with not having IHFOAM downloaded and compiled? If so, how do I do that?

Also, if I use the blockMesh command in a Terminal it works just fine.

Thanks

Santiago

Hello again,

I think I solved the issue by compiling OpenFOAM v1912 from source on the home directoryas Chu said. I did that by following the steps in this links:

https://www.openfoam.com/download/install-source.php
https://www.openfoam.com/code/build-guide.php

The problem I now have is that i cannot find the ParaView bin, if someone knows where it is it will be great.

Thanks

Santiago

IHFOAM GUI can just work with ESI's version.
You must install this version:
https://www.openfoam.com/

You have to download Paraview to any folder in your laptop:

Would you plz add "export icon" for exporting the free surface elevation data to excel or other programs? It is really necessary.

Also, adding sediment transport majola can enhance the GUI and Meets all needs.

Thanks for your attention and providing this Amazing tool

You can not add weeds yet.

We have already created this functionality but as you can see when using the GUI the activate button is disabled. It will be released soon.

IHFOAM Team.

Hi,

I run OpenFOAM-2.4.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 as I use bespoke libraries written for this particular version. After compiling IHFoam and the GUI I attempt to run the first tutorial from here:

https://ihfoam.ihcantabria.com/wp-co...M_Course_1.pdf

I have 2 issues:

1) I don't know if the tutorial is out of date but it doesnt allow me to allocate patch names: "sides". So if I set all the patch attributes as in the tutorial, selecting the same attributes for patches "front" and "back" as the tutorial uses for "sides", I get an error when I try to run:

Code:
ERROR!!

--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR:
inconsistent patch and patchField types for
patch type empty and patchField type fixedFluxPressure

file: /home/callum/OpenFOAM/callum-2.4.0/run/Tutorial1_IHFoam/0/p_rgh.boundaryField.front from line 32 to line 33.

    From function fvPatchField<Type>::New(const fvPatch&, const DimensionedField<Type, volMesh>&, const dictionary&)
in file /home/callum/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.4.0/src/finiteVolume/lnInclude/fvPatchFieldNew.C at line 172.

FOAM exiting
2) If I go into the case files manually and edit the /constant/polyMesh/boundary file such that both front and back are type "patch" I get error:

Code:
--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR:
Unknown patchField type waveVelocity for patch type patch

Valid patchField types are :

I have tried installing OF-v1806 and in that case the GUI can't even find the blockMesh command.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Callum

For the first issue what I usually do is change the names of the Patches in the blockmeshDict before running blockMesh

In my personal experience the second issue is caused because OF-2.4.0 doesn't have the waveVelocity and other tools that IHFOAM requires.

You should install another version of OpenFOAM. I installed v1912 following these links (if I remember correctly) and got it running with no problems

https://www.openfoam.com/download/install-source.php
https://www.openfoam.com/code/build-guide.php

I hope it works ,

Also, if the GUI is not finding the blockMesh command it is probably because OpenFOAM is installed in another directory (like /opt) than the GUI (e.g. /home)
