Hi guys,

I have a little question about the installation of fsiFoam. I read the installtion instructions about the fsiFoam from this links: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ex...oam-extend_4.0

My question is: is the fsiFoam built on foam-extend? Do I need to install foam-extend before I install fsiFoam? What is the relation between foam-extend and OpenFoam?

My OpenFoam version is v1612.

Waiting for the reply and Thank you very much!

Hi Bruno,

Thank you very much for your kind reply!

My problem now is the 'wmake' command gave me lots of 'could not open file xxx for source file xxx ' during the fsiFoam installation process.

If my understanding is correct, my both OpenFOAM+(v1612) and foam-extend-4.0 are forks, and they cannot coexist in the same shell environment. Therefore, I should follow the instruction of https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...nFOAM_versions to solve this, right?

I have tested the tutorials of both my openFOAM(v1612) and foam-extend-4.0, and they all run well. My only problem is always fail to install the fisFoam on foam-extend-4.0, which really drive me crazy...

By the way I did all of these on Windows.

Thank you very much!

Looking forward to you reply! Thanks!

Hi Bruno,

Sorry for reply again. I have tried the above method, but the fsiFOAM still can not be compiled/built.

By adding the code:

alias fe40='source /openfoam/foam-extend-4.0/etc/bashrc'

to the bashrc file and enter the command 'fe40'.

I am sure the foma-extend-4.0 is on the surface. By this way I built (./Allwmake) the fsiFoam in the foam-extend-4.0 shell environment.

But same errors like these still showed up.

log:

make: *** [Make/mingwGccDP0pt/RBFInterpolation.o] Error 1

Making dependency list for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file boolList.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file HashSet.H for source file fsiFoam.C

could not open file EdgeMap.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file primitiveMeshI.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file pointIOField.H for source file fsiFoam.C

could not open file lduMesh.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file fvBoundaryMesh.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file surfaceInterpolation.H for source file fsiFoam.C
could not open file DimensionedField.H for source file fsiFoam.C
....

But all of these files can be found in my '/openfoam/foam-extend-4.0/src/foam'

How can I let the fsiFoam compiling program find the right location of these files and open them?

Thank you very much!

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi Bruno,

Sorry to bother again...

I found you've help to solve a similar problem like mine in Trouble compiling utilities using source-built OpenFOAM

Unfortunately, that is not my case.

I tried to see the path of WMAKE_BIN by the code:
Code:
ls -l $WM_DIR/bin/$WM_ARCH$WM_COMPILER
It returns:
Code:
-rwxr-xr-x l lenovo Administrations 47164 Jun l 20:23 dirToString.exe
-rwxr-xr-x l lenovo Administrations 73820 Jun l 20:23 wmkdep.exe
I don't have the 'wmkdepend' term, so his solution seems not work for me.

It would be great help if you have time to help look through this.

Best Reagards,
Wei
