What possibilities exist in OF to apply an overall displacement constraints in steady-state solid mechanics problems in general cases (say if we have no symmetry)? In ansys there are variants to apply displacement constraints in points and planes which are sufficient to prevent undefined large displacements. What is about OF?
Specifically I try to use foam-extend-3.1 to solve a thermal stress problem in 2D. Thin plate with a surface crack loaded with a non-uniform temperature field alone defined with the help of funkySetFieldsDict; all the surfaces are free of traction. In my case there is only one face to which the symmetryPlane condition can be applied (a neck in front of the crack). So displacement is constrained in direction of normal to the symmetryPlane face only. It would be ideal to apply a fixed zero displacement in any point on that face. But how to? The only method I found in this forum is to define a small subsection on that face. |
