The tutorial "bed" for twoPhaseEulerFoam crashes under 1.6. Nu such problem with the 1.5 version.
The problem seems related to turbulence, but I have not pinpointed it further.

I am seeing the same behavior with my own work. TwoPhaseEulerFoam-cases which ran under 1.5 are more unstable and crashes frequently in 1.6.

I started a thread on the issue at http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post238702.

Best regards,

I changed the default value of "E" used in the wall-functions to a more standard value and now this case runs to completion. This change is now in our OpenFOAM-1.6.x git repository.

Based on the tutorial "bed2" for twoPhaseEulerFoam I tried to simulate the fluidization process. My trouble is that after few simulation steps in the freeboard region the solid velocity exists, shows oposit to the inflow velocity direction and is extremly high in magnitude compared to the inflow velocity. The field "alpha = 0" in the freeboard means that no solid-phase exists there, so why a solid-phase velocity exists however?
The same problem I simulated with Fluent and MFIX, which gives similar results, but those of twoPhaseEulerFoam are total different and unphysical concerning the solid-phase velocity field. Has anybody an idea what might be the reason?

regards,
N.S.
