Hi,

I've installed OpenFoam and FireFOAM on an archlinux 64 bits distribution. I have no experience with openfoam and firefoam. I tried to run the different cases of firefoam but each time I have the error : Abandon Core dumped. In the log files I found the error : Enabling floating point exception trapping (FOAM_SIGFPE). The Openfoam version is 2.2 and firefoam version is 2.2
I tried to find similar errors on google and CFD online but I found nothing.

If someone know how to run the examples It will be great !

Thanks !

Quick questions:
  1. Were you able to run/follow the 1 tutorial from the OpenFOAM User Guide?
  2. Which exact OpenFOAM version are you using? Because 2.2 has 4 patch versions: 2.2.0, 2.2.1, 2.2.2 and 2.2.x

Hi !

Thanks for your reply.

1 - Indeed, I fail to run the cavity example... I have the same error : "Enabling floating point exception trapping".

2- I have the OpenFOAM 2.2.x : this is the version needed for fireFOAM 2.2.x (https://github.com/fireFoam-dev/fireFoam-2.2.x)

Thanks for your help, if you want I can give you the logs files

That's only an indication that appears at the start of the solver:
Code:
sigFpe : Enabling floating point exception trapping (FOAM_SIGFPE).

OK, I'll test this.

Zip the log files and attach them to your next post.

Edit:
I've finished testing just now with OpenFOAM 2.2.x and fireFoam 2.2.x the case "cases/steckler", by running the script:
Code:
./run.sh
and I got this error message:
Code:
Running fireFoam on /home/ofuser/OpenFOAM/ofuser-2.2.x/fireFoam-2.2.x/cases/steckler
/home/ofuser/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.2.x/bin/tools/RunFunctions: line 42: 16618 Aborted (core dumped) $APP_RUN "$@" > log.$APP_NAME 2>&1
I then tried:
Code:
fireFoam > log.fireFoam2
and got:
Code:
Aborted (core dumped)
Honestly, I don't know why exactly this happened, but I didn't bother look into the source code to diagnose the reason for it to happen. My guess is that the author of this toolkit didn't care much about this error message, because the solver runs just fine. You can try contacting the author at the email provided on the project page: https://github.com/fireFoam-dev

When in doubt, have a look into the log files, to double-check if the solver did manage to do anything.
