I am helping somebody test the sprayFoam utility and they have been finding some pretty bad results running the aachenBomb tutorial when looking at liquid penetration length as reported in the sprayFoam output. When the data is plotted over time there are a number of spikes where the value goes extremely negative and then bounces back. In addition when he ran the code on 16 processors he got a completely different curve, but still with all the noise in the data.

I'll be taking a closer look at the results and the code to see if I can figure out where this is coming from, but I thought I would post about it here in case anyone is aware of this issue. If nobody responds, but I am able to find a solution I will post it here.

Just thought I should come here to say that I determined that this was a bug in version 2.1 that appears to have been fixed in version 2.2. The results are largely similar with the exception of some major random outliers in v2.1. I'm guessing there was some bug in the lagrangian algorithms that screwed up the location of parcels, or something along those lines.

Greetings Scott,

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, several bugs related to the Lagragian models and sprayFoam have been fixed in OpenFOAM 2.2. If you search for "sprayFoam" and "Lagrangian" here: http://www.openfoam.org/mantisbt/view_all_bug_page.php - you'll find that several bugs on this topic have been fixed in the past 1-2 years.

Next time, please also refer to which OpenFOAM version you're using It'll make it easier for those with little time to spot right away the problem, without having to do a few questions

Best regards,
Bruno
