Dear Community,
Good afternoon, Is there a way to convert a "physical line" boundary condition into a "physical surface" one? I have a very complex geometry of a real porous media, and I am capable of generate a 2D mesh for Ansys and/or FENIcS, but I must compare the values with finite volume method, which will require OpenFOAM simulation. I can extrude the mesh easily, but I cannot automatically create all the physical surfaces and the physical volume for the single-layered extruded mesh. Best regards, Vitor Cardoso |

Hi Vitor,
You could import the same mesh to OpenFOAM that you used in Ansys/FEniCS simulations. OpenFOAM supports several mesh formats such as Ansys/Fluent (.ans/.msh). Otherwise, extrude your GMSH surface mesh one cell in the third direction. The extrusion function returns an array with the surface indices which you can use to define the physical surfaces. Best, Mikko |
