Generally there is a scaling factor for generating the first multigrid level. This scale factor is generally 2 for CFD models.

What is the sensitivity of the multigrid method to scaling factors? Why pick 2, or 3, or 4, or 1.5? The method requires that there is a coarser level, that is all, so far as I understand.

Thanks for your interest in this question.
