DNS algorithm question regarding Raleigh Benard convection

I posted this on another site, but thought it wouldn't hurt to crosspost here, too.
I'm familiar with pseudospectral DNS codes for pressure driven channel flow (e.g., Kim et al 1987), and am curious how different are the pseudospecral DNS codes for Rayleigh-Benard convection (RBC). For example, Kim et al start out with a normal-velocity, normal-vorticity, form of the Navier-Stokes equations. Is this the same form of the equations used in RBC? I have not dug through the literature, but thought someone more familiar with these algorithms might know. |
