Default C++ compiler for Windows XP

I use a GNU C++ compiler (http://gcc.gnu.org) on SUN Solaris. I don't use fancy GUIs, just use line commands to compile, debug and run codes. I want to switch to an XP environment, and I am in a search for a C++ compiler for Windows XP. I want to keep changes as few as possible in my codes to make a smooth transition from Unix to Windows for time being. I wonder if anyone could recommend this kind of comipler for Wndows XP environment. I would prefer not to install Linux on my laptop, at least not this time. Thanks for responses. MG

Dev-C++ is a good option, but I'm not sure if you can install it without cygwin. Here's the link. http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html

You can use the GNU compiler under cygwin on Windows XP. See http://www.cygwin.com/ for more info.

I would consider the Intel compiler, available both for Linux and WIndows and free for non-commercial use.

If you want to live with gnu run gcc under cygwin or colinux. Also you might want to try dev-c++. Borland also offers a command line version of its compiler for free. Also there is something called watcom - c++ not sure of it though. -Harish
