I am a doctarate student and my thesis is the numerical study on transitional pipe flow at the entrance. I am studying numerical for pipe entrance transitional (laminar to turbulent Re= 4000) flow I want to simulate turbulent fluctuation (pressure fluctuation) and then compare them with experimental results of mine. so I have to use LES modelling in FLUENT. I draw the pipe geometry and meshing it in Ansys workbench. now I want to solve it by using LES model in FLUENT. I used smagorinsky lilly model for SGS. but did not run. I study the notes in the HELP menu but didn't find any knowladge about the problem.
*how can I simulate the laminar to turbulent transitional flow in the entrance of pipe. is there any tutorials or notes to help me in this numerical study. await of your helps |

but what's the problem? the pipe is periodic along the axis? You can fix a pressure gradient in the momentum equation and run the fractional step method, using LES with dynamic Smaogorinsky.
