please be more specific!
do you want to apply CFD, or develop your own code? What software do you have available? Theoretical background, practical background, time frame, etc pp Cheers, cfdnewbie |

Do you have a specific area of interest?? CFD can be applied in a variety of problems from Biomedical to Aerospace! I think it is important for you to select a field first! Preferably something that you are good at. Once you do that it will be easier to find a specific area of research.
Sincerely, A.D.E |

This might sound boring, and I'm not sure if something doesn't already exist out there. I haven't seen anything concerning this. And I think it is needed.
Take serveral NACA 00xx airfoils (for example, 0004, 0006, 0010, 0012, ... 0030), or another airfoil of your choice, and run them incompressible (or low Mach number, 0.1) over a range of Reynolds numbers, 50k, 100k, 500k, 1mil, 5mil, 10mil. with different turbulence models, SA, SST, and a transition model of some sort. Go from 0 angle of attack to something well past stall, lets say 24 degrees angle of attack. Where possible, compare with data. Post the results on a web page. Make it interactive if possible by allowing the viewer to select CFD results and wt data to compare to. You could also create an iPad app out of it. This could possibly become a reference tool for others. A sort of Abbot and von Doenhoff. This is a lot of work and could take a lot of CPU time. |

What is your degree in (Aero, Mechanical, Biomedical, Civil?), that might give people a better idea of what areas to suggest, saying you're interested in fluid flow on a CFD forum doesn't really help.
Knowing whether you have access to any commercial software (CFX, Fluent, Adina, LSDyna, Star-CD) would also help, if not then you might possibly be able to use something like OpenFoam as its open source and probably a good place to start rather than trying to build your own code from scratch. So any more info would help. Andy |

For a research project, you might want to try doing something related to OpenFOAM using GPUs. Here is a link that may help give you some ideas : http://www.nvidia.com/object/computa..._dynamics.html
