polymer is on a distinguished road
Need some advice here. I am a polymer engineer. I had some exposure to cfd when I took 'numerical methods' during my grad studies. I liked the subject but never had the time (lame excuse) to learn more on the subject. Now I would like to take up this task of getting my fundamentals strong in the area of fluid mechanics and expanding it to computational stuff. If I like the subject, ideally I would like to apply my knowledge of polymer rheology to switch my research area to computational fluid dynamics of complex fluids.

Coming to my questions, what literature/books would you recommend to strengthen my basics of fluid dynamics and progress towards computational fluid dynamics? What other ways would you recommend in getting myself proficient on these subjects? Any help would be appreciated.

What a very large open question! Well, there are some very general bibliography as the books of Hirsh for example. And you will find here http://elearning.cerfacs.fr/ some more dedicated learning material.
