oil/water flow in pipeline

Hi,
I am working with a problem of oil and water flow in pipelines. I want to simulate the interface between those two fluids and so I thought that the VOF model implemented in FLuent would be Ok . But in fact not, it gives some strange results, and it is not possible to track these instabilities which are going to developped along the pipe (horizontale or inclined). I have read several post about free surface problem . and some of you suggest to use Flow3D. Is it going to work in this case (3d flows in a pipe)?. Do somebody have others advices ?. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.
But try www.flow3d.com. You can e-mail them a question - or call them. When I was using the program (10 years ago) I found them to be helpful. Good luck. |

In fact , it is a question about the VOF implementation in different codes . I have read that FOAM is using a VOF too. Any users whom experienced that too ?. Thanks |

Yup, I've done a lot of free surface in FOAM. If you want to see a good example, there is an SAE paper with LES + free surface and a a thesis on air bubbles in water with instability.
