Default analytical solution of 1D shock tube problem

Does anyone know the source for or have the analytical solution of a 1D shock tube problem?

I think every CFD+compressible researcher should have such an analytical solution in hand, in order to validate his/her codes.

I hope someone can share it. (Everybody may be too lazy to derive it in person during this information-sharing era)

Thanks.

If you can find a copy:

Harlow, Francis H. and Anthony A. Amsden, Fluid Dynamics, Los Alamos National Laboratory monograph LA-4700, June, 1971.

Frank Harlow is, I believe, still active at Los Alamos. Try

Some of the texts written by Shapiro will have shock solutions as well. But they'll likely be out of print.

Try the sections on Gas dynamics (more precisely 6.13) of Gerald Whitham's book "Linear and nonlinear waves"

You can find the exact Riemann solver taken from Toro here. Also take the input file.

Thanks a lot for all of your valuable information about the 1D shock tube analytical results, especially Praveen who posted the solver.

I know this thread is pretty old, but I was wondering if anyone has an updated link to the exact solution to the shocktube problem? Thanks!!

Hello Spacegirl....Did you manage to get the code and the development of the analytical solution?
If so, please let me know so I can send you my email adresse (If that is Ok for you).
Cheers.

Analytical solution (matlab):

http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentr...shock-tube-zip

The analytical solution requires iterations. That's why there's not an explicit function.

The same thing I wrote in python:
https://gitlab.com/fantaz/Riemann_exact/wikis/home
which is based on the fortran code found below
