fluid mechanics HELP!!

Hi,
I have not been able to find any software thats helping me in simulating or Obtaining results for pressure drop through a nozzle of decreasing diameter. having tried the fluid option in ansys v10 dinn't understand how to use it,i have not undergone any training for the other software available for fluid simulations is there a software that will help,ANSYS 12 and 13 are too costly to buy. i don't know how to use star CD or open foam,for a noob which would be the best software to use for the above application i have mentioned. i have to prove that my theoretical results are right with the help of a simulation thank you |

Surely there are experimental results in tables or charts which would save you the effort of trying to simulate the flow. Find a decent text book.

i was hoping i could simulate it...But as you say i will look at other alternatives
do you have any suggestions of text books i could use ? i use a book authored by DR.R.K.Bansal he is a local author,its a well written book but contains only basics |

Having recently only started to conduct CFD simulations myself in ANSYS, I'd say that a little knowledge in this area is very dangerous as with out some good knowledge about the numerical methods used by the software and knowledge about the correct fluid settings to put in, you can very easily generate garbage for output but you are unlikely to know this.
CFD simulations themselves have to be validated with experimental results generally (just read up on the amount of calibration work the F1 guys do with their wind tunnels and CFD software), so I'd lean towards the experimental data. search via: http://books.google.com/ you are likely to get a graph up of what you want exactly without having to head for a library. |
