I'm in trouble with importing files, in particular i've imported an .igs file but I can't generate volumes from the surfaces, then I can't generate volume mesh.

so anyone can recommand me a format that keeps the volumes when the file is exported from CAD?
thanks!

Michele

Hi Michelle,

I'm new at the forum. I work with GiD.

Try with: Utilities/Repair Model

Or: Geometry/Edit/Collapse/Model

Then to generate volumes you can try manually, selecting surfaces one by one or using:
Geometry/create/Volume and depending on the complexity of the geometry one of the 3 options

You can send me the file .igs if you can't solve the problem. If I can fix it I'll text you the solution.

Hope it helps,

Martí
