Hi,

I would like to simulate water quenching (especially quenching by impinging jet) using the CFD code Fluent. That involves to model the different boiling regimes occurring during the cooling of a hot surface (convection, nucleate boiling, film boiling). I’m looking for some advices about the best way to proceed. (Which models using? is VOF calculations can converge ?)

What are Fluent limits? It seems to me that Fluent is not able to handle vaporisation or condensation by itself so I guess UDF must be created for that.

Has everyone ever worked on this topic, and/or are knowing some “must read” publications ?

Thank you

Best Regards,

Rockda

Browse for "quenching AVL FIRE". They can simulate quenching - basically boiling models for immersion quenching, impinging jets etc..no need for any UDFs.

For running it in FLUENT: may be u can replicate boiling models using masstransfer UDFs pretty easily. Stability is important though.

If you are a student i think they have a free student version..check with AVL FIRE support.

Thanks,
