boundary layer simulation : basic issues

Hi, I want to simulate boundary layer growth over a flat plate. I can think of two ways in which this can be done :
case 1. Initial conditions assuming there is a discontinuity near the leading edge. so i can use two domains (the plate and free stream). case 2. Start with a boundary layer profile guess and hence just use only one domain. could anyone tell me wether I can start with case 1 and let boundarly layer profile develop. Can this problem be classified like a "shock" problem and hence case 1 be called as boundary layer capturing. Also if i take unifrom grid size in stream wise direction then the aspect ratio would be very great near plate surface. Any comments or sugessations would be of great help. -Amol |
