Can anyone please provide some guidline for conducting research in CFD. I am interested in Hypersonic flows. Can you suggest any topics in this field.

Military usage abunds in hypersonic flow. DSMC, Kinetics scheme, Boltzmann equation, supersonic combustion, turbulent mixing, flow transition, all are complicated academic topics where you can start.

Thanks versi. Do you think laminar-turbulence transition at hypersonic speeds a good topic for research?

I saw two or three papers in J Fluid Mech. on hypersonic transition. But seem a DNS one.
