All,
I'm looking for a set of benchmark cases that I can use to validate a CFD code I am writing. It would seem to me that there must be a site or database online with set cases including boundary conditions, grids, etc. where I could go to get specific cases along with experimental results to validate my code against. Does such a thing exist? I ran into the Drag Prediction Workshop, but that focuses on more complex cases than I am thinking would be best. The best cases in my opinion would be things like the driven cavity, boundary layer on a flat plate, fully-developed pipe and channel flow, and 2D jets. Thanks. Doug |

hi Doug,
Did you try the ERCOFTAC benchmarking cases? They are industry standard and have been widely accepted. What is the type of case you looking at ? Turbulent / laminar? single or multiphase case? Let me know. I shall pass on some standrd exp results for you to compare. /CFDtoy visit http://cfdtoy.blogspot.com Quote:

CFDtoy-
Thanks. I'm looking for both laminar and turbulent test cases, although most of the laminar cases can be compared to analytical solutions from similarity analysis for the cases I'm considering. So to be more specific, I'm looking for turbulence model results both experimental and numerical for the very basic cases: boundary layer on flat plate, 2D jet, fully-developed pipe/channel flow. Single phase flows. Thanks. Doug |

our own cfd-online has validation cases: you can try that
http://www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Valid...and_test_cases and the ERCOFTAC database http://cfd.mace.manchester.ac.uk/ercoftac/ search for your required info example..."flat plate" in the search string will provide you appropriate measurement data. Regarding user privilege, I guess you can request one easily. Thanks, CFDtoy Visit http://cfdtoy.blogspot.com Quote:
